There has been much research that shows the effects of therapeutic massage on physical and mental illness. Rexillus, Mundt, Megel, and Agrawal (2002) studied 36 blood circulation disease’s patients whom 10 patients got therapeutic touching, 13 patients received therapeutic massage and 13 patients were in control group. They were average 51.5 years old and mostly white complexion. In therapeutic massage groups, they got 30 minutes massage session twice a week for 3 weeks. In control group, they received normal nursing care and 10 minutes conversation session. Researchers found that there is statistically significant decreasing in depression, fatigue and anxiety in those whom got therapeutic massage group while there is no statistically significant decreasing in those symptoms in group whom received therapeutic touching.
