EMERGENCY EXIT
Each window installed on cockpit and cabin doors and the standard cabin
windows can be removed to provide emergency exits for evacuation
(emergency egress).
Appropriate markings and placards are installed inside and outside the
helicopter to locate the emergency exits and to provide instructions for
evacuation.
Pulling the red strap at the bottom of each window removes the inner filler
wedge. This action reduces the pressure that holds the transparent in place.
Applying hand pressure on any corners of the window is enough to jettison
it.
The cockpit windows have a second red strap in the bottom aft corner:
jettisoning of cockpit windows is achieved by pushing the bottom forward
corner outwards and pulling the aft strap inwards. The window must rotate to
get free from the seal and then be jettisoned.
