a possible correlation between the tested diets and any change in
apoptotic rates in oocytes, as previously reported for goat oocytes
(Silva et al., 2014). However, no differences in expression levels
for those genes aforementioned were observed between groups,indicating that the type of diet did not affect oocyte viability.
Altogether, these results corroborate the view that molecular
mechanisms related to acquisition of oocyte meiotic competence
depend on a balance of several factors, including downregulation
and upregulation of different genes over the course of oocyte maturation
and initial embryo development (Gendelman and Roth,
2012)
