An amount of Gd(NO3)3 solution, Eu(NO3)3 solution
(Eu3+ doping concentration is 3%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% and
12.5%) and urea solution were mixed together, then adding
glycol with appropriate proportion to the mixture solution,
and kept stirring for 10 min. The transparent precursor
solution was obtained, and heated. The water was
evaporated quickly and soon a vigorous redox reaction
occurred, the whole process went on for a few seconds. The
precursor with foamy was obtained after the combustion
reaction, subsequently heated at 600 1C for 2 h, finally
Gd2O3:Eu3+ nanoparticles with different concentration
were obtained. In order to investigate the effect of
temperature on structure and luminescence properties of
nanoparticles, different portions of precursor with 5%
Eu3+ were heated at 600, 700 and 800 1C for 2 h,
respectively.
