The training of employees in the design phase was
found to be not very important, in the construction phase moderately important, and in the operation phase very
important by the respondents in Gunaydin's study of TQM
in US construction projects. 12 It follows that operation and
maintenance crews working in constructed facilities should
be the main recipient of training efforts. Findings are parallel
to ISO 9001 which emphasizes the importance of training
and underlines that activities demanding acquired skills
should be identified and the necessary training provided
