The Twelve Core Values for a Strong Thailand
Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I’m …. from Thetsaban3 “Yuttithamwittaya” Secondary School, Sakon Nakhon. First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for getting this glorious opportunity to be here to have speech on the twelve core values for a strong Thailand.
Our Prime Minister, in his capacity as Head of the National Council for Peace and Order, has suggested 12 core values of the Thai people in order to build a stronger Thailand. The purpose is to instill discipline, strengthen the physical and mental state, and reinforce conscience and social responsibility. Again the values have great inputs in the Thailand’s plan to become a hub in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) era. The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has more on the implementation of this and despite cautions from quite a few educators it has successfully pushed the Education Ministry to bring back these two subjects for the purpose of inculcating better attitudes and values among the young. Accordingly the Ministry of Education has planned to implement the 12 main Thai values into the education reform roadmap for the years 2015-2021. And the Ministry has already started revising history and civic duties in order to make students learn about the duty of Thais, discipline, morality and patriotism.
And those 12 main values according to NCPO policy are as follows:
1. Love nation, religions and monarchy
2. be honest, self-sacrificing and resilient
3. Have utmost gratitude towards parents
4. be determined and persistent in studies
5. Uphold national culture
6. Sustain moral standards, religions
7. Learn and know about the sovereignty of the people
8. Maintain discipline and Thai laws.
9. Act accordance with His Majesty’s words.
10. Live with sufficiency; be able to sustain oneself
11. be guard in both body and mind.
12. put first the common good
And so, with the correct implementation of these values in to action, it’s pretty easy to see the prosperous and stronger Thailand.
Thank you for listening.
