Prior to implementation of block scheduling, all teachers received
extensive training on the variety of instructional methods that were
appropriately utilized during a ninety-minute period. For example, the training
sessions in which teachers participated, emphasized cooperative learning
strategies, instruction that took student learning styles into account, and
modifications of lesson plans that would capitalize on the flexibility provided
by the ninety-minute period. The teachers also received the mandated staff
development as required by the State of Texas.
