The majority of hydrocarbondegrading bacteria reported in the literature belong to the genus Pseudomonas (Widada et al.,
2002). In our study, isolate L3 was identified as Pseudomonas sp. (Table 3). Isolate L1 identified as Acinetobacter junii, had not been reported to produce biosurfactants. However, one bacterial isolate from sediments, identified as an Acinetobacter
sp. produced surface active agents (Huy et al., 1999).
