The effects of diet on performance in poultry also depend on the feed particle size. Amerah et al. (2008) found that maize ground through a hammer mill screen opening of 7 mm,which resulted in coarse particles [geometric mean diameter (GMD): 0.528 mm], significantly improved FCR compared withmaize ground through a screen opening of 1 mm (GMD: 0.297 mm). In the present study, the WR treatment resulted in thehigher daily weight gain throughout the trial period compared to GM and GR diets, and improved FCR compared to theGR treatment from 28 to 42 d of age. The findings of the current study suggest that the hulled rice and rice husk are good ingredients in geese diet which have positive effects.
