Dimethoate and metalaxyl emerged as the most commonly
used pesticides in the cultivation of durians. However,
the levels of pesticides detected in durian samples
were well below their recommended MRL values. For
example, the mean level of metalaxyl found in durian
samples was 1.4 ppb corresponding to approximately 3 %
of the suggested MRL for metalaxyl in durians (50 ppb).
Dimethoate was detected in 13 samples with a mean concentration
of 2.6 ± 1.3 ppb, corresponding to about 13 %
of the recommended MRL for dimethoate in durians
(20 ppb).
