It is important to point out that the water supplied to the small village of Soto de Ribera is taken from this main conduction pipe by means of a new branch. This branch consists of a foundry pipe of 125 mm in diameter which transports the water to the El Cordial water storage tank from which it is distributed through a network. Consequently, if the heat exchanger is located in the main aqueduct, the heating system could be used by both Oviedo city and Soto de Ribera village. On the other hand, the development of an alternative pilot project using a small heat exchanger in this separate branch to supply a city water heating system only to Soto de Ribera could be considered. These two different alternatives are analysed separately.
