ฉันรักแปลDear colleagues,
Another year is coming to a close. And what a successful one it has been for both our JWA Business Unit and our Technical Development Jewelry department! On the top line our jewelry business has been growing again by almost double digits after a challenging 2013 while on the bottom line we have delivered a much improved profitability level for the company due to the significant improvements on the COGS and our much more careful spending of our company funds.
The contributions to this achievement from our department have come in many ways. There were the technical product improvements in Marigot that led to both lower cost and more aesthetically refined products, the establishment of our buy readiness setup, the start of our industrial design setup with our Creation team in Paris to improve collaboration in the early phases of the collection, the continuation of our Slake and Stardust success stories by turning new ideas into successful products, the extension of our PLM world to external vendors, the much improved integration of new materials and components into our collection, the launch of our revamped and gorgeous digital component library, the development support for new business initiatives such as wearable technology and many more beyond the ones listed that helped us to achieve this fabulous result.
On the side of the KPIs we also see a lot of progress. While there is still plenty of work left for us in 2015 all indicators show that we are on the right track. Our development lead times have tremendously improved season on season and the many initiatives that we put in place have proven to be fruitful. While the final figures for FW15 are not available just yet we can be confident that we will be able to slash lead times again by almost one week. Here the collection teams in Marigot are truly showing their virtue. After a challenging SS15 season they managed to reduce lead time by 2 full weeks. This is just fantastic! The “right first time” (RFT) KPI remains our primary focus area for our improvement. While we have seen again some improvement of our internal development performance for the FW season the RFT measurement needs to be become a truly shared KPI between TDJ, Marketing and Creation to really make a difference. There are still way too many products that are undergoing unnecessary revisions which consume our development capacities and tie up our resources. Be assured that this is on top of my list for improvements in 2015 as this will not only help to keep our internal workload at a moderate level, but also increase our ability to become quicker to market. On the costing front we also have very positive news. SS15 has been the most cost-competitive collection that we have delivered in years. This is a result of the production efficiency program, the transparency delivered by the GWD system, the accurate measurement of our surface areas as well as the overall CBD application with our external factories. While the deep dive on getting the right level of cost transparency is not always easy especially for the PE colleagues, I can assure you that your efforts are paying off and that your contributions in improving the company profitability are recognized across the entire organization.
The consumer is the ultimate judge of our performance and he has told us very clearly this year that he likes what we are doing by buying more of our jewelry products than our competitors. This we know because we have been outgrowing the total jewelry market significantly this year!
I am very well aware that the contribution and dedication that each and every one of you has brought to the table goes beyond the ordinary and I am very grateful for that and feel privileged to work with such a motivated and enthusiastic team that is always seeking for improvement and new challenges to push the boundaries of what we thought was possible. It has been a great pleasure to drive and observe the progress this year and I very much look forward to continue the journey in 2015!
But before we do all of that let us get some well deserved rest over the Christmas holidays!
Let me extend my heartfelt wishes to you and your beloved ones. Have a very merry Christmas and a great start into the new year!
With my best personal regards,
Christian
