Balloon-assisted enteroscopy
The diagnostic yield for balloon-assisted enteroscopy
(BAE) in MGIB varies from 38 to 91% [23, 24, 26, 29–34].
Data from independent studies have been confirmed by
systematic reviews and meta-analysis [29, 30].
Compared to CE, BAE has the following advantages:
ability to clean a lesion, inspect the lesion back and forth,
and the application of therapy [35–39]. The major disadvantages
are its invasiveness, the need for sedatives, as
well as endoscopy and sedative-associated complications
