Eleven sedentary subjects (seven men and four women) who were not taking medications
participated in this study (Table 1). Sedentary status was characterized by the level of physical
activity evaluated by the Baecke’s questionnaire (2). All subjects were informed about the
potential risks associated with the experiments before giving their written consent to participate.
The investigation was approved by the Consultant Committee on Human Protection from
Biomedical Research of Strasbourg in accordance with French Law and with the Declaration of
Helsinki.
