HOW TO COOK FOR CLEAN EATING NUTRITION
________________________________________
Ideally we would eat everything raw – even broccoli.Let me be completely honest, I don’t do this (I know I should).I think eating healthy tastes great and putting nutrients in our bodies is the ultimate goal.Yes steaming and roasting takes some of the nutrients out, but if it helps us eat the nutrients more frequently does it really matter?I make a green smoothie every morning with the raw veggies. After that, I roast almost everything I eat! When roasting and or steaming it is important to not overcook. This will completely destroy the nutrients and at that point you might as well eat something you really want!
Here are some of the best ways to cook for clean eating nutrition:
1.Raw: The easiest ways I have found to do this is to make a big salad, chop up the veggies you’re craving and season them with olive oil, salt and pepper. You can also make a green smoothie/drink with the raw ingredients.
2.Baked: This is my favorite post breakfast way to cook vegetables. Chop everything up, toss them in olive oil, and throw them in the oven. Check the veggies frequently because you don’t want to overcook them. I wait until they start to brown a little on the top/around the edges.
3.Steam: I don’t steam veggies very often because I think it tends to taste a little bland, however if you want to go this route it is extremely important not to overcook them. You want to lightly steam your veggies. If they get mushy then you’ll destroy your nutrients
