Violence against children is a cross-cultural and cross-social class
phenomenon that affects millions of children in every region of the world.
Children are susceptible to violence in a wide range of settings, including
when they come in contact with the justice system. All too often, violence
against children remains invisible, unprosecuted and unpunished, and
sometimes it is even socially condoned and not legally sanctioned.
Undeniably its consequences are damaging to both victims and society
as a whole.
