In the organosolvent process, an organic or aqueous organic solvent mixture with inorganic acid catalysts is used to break the internal lignin and hemicellulose bonds. Solvents used in the process need to be drained from the reactor, evaporated, condensed and recycled to reduce the cost. Removal of solvents from the system is necessary because the solvent may be inhibitory to the growth of organisms, enzyme hydrolysis and fermentation (Sun and Cheng, 2002)
