2.4. Statistical analysis
All analyses were performed using repeated measures, mixed
generalized linear models (GLM) with Tukey’s HSD tests used for
post-hoc evaluations. Separate analyses were conducted both prior to
the intervention (baseline, pre-training) and as a result of the
intervention (pre/post-training comparisons). For baseline assessments
the factors were group (2 levels: DMand DM-PN). For pre-post
training comparisons, an additional factor, exercise session (2 levels:
pre/post-training) was added. Age and disease duration were
included as covariates in this design. All statistical analyses were
performed using SAS statistical software (SAS Institute Inc., NC), with
the risk of Type I error set at p b0.05.
