The Facebook founder spoke to the trio of astronauts aboard the ISS for 20 minutes, pitching questions on everything from their day to day activities to future missions to Mars.
Commenting on the typical activities undertaken aboard the orbiting scientific outpost, Nasa astronaut Tim Kopra said: ‘One of the main things we do is try to understand the impact of zero gravity on the human body…in large measure, we’re an experiment.’
In addition to Kopra, Zuckerberg was linked up to Nasa astronaut Jeff Williams and British astronaut Tim Peake.
The crew spoke about the inflatable Beam module, which was recently deployed on the station after an initial failure, explaining how it will be kitted out with equipment in the coming weeks and months.
Nasa astronaut Jeff Williams, who inflated the module, commented: ‘It’s a new technology which will of course allow greater volumes to be launched, with fewer launches…and of course it will take a lot of volume to send a crew away from earth, no matter where the destination is.’
