Nurses were sometimes observed to use informal methods to assess pain, asking the child if he or she was OK or feeling better
Nurse went to check that the patient was OK, as lorazepam should have worked. Didn’t do a pain score but asked the patient if she was feeling better. (Case 2, Nurse 3)
Went in to give the child his acetaminophen. Nurse asked him how he was feeling (didn’t use the word pain). (Case 10, Nurse 22)
