The shading system, as well as the lights in offices,
are also linked to the electronic calendars of the office
occupants so that the lights can be dimmed and the
shades kept closed via the computerized integrated
building management system when no one is using
the space, Pedersen say. Ironically, though, the project
actually lost a few LEED points related to the shading
system because as many as four UN staff members occupy
certain of the shaded offices, and that was considered
too large a number to operate the system as efficiently
as possible, Pedersen says.
