Kamhi (2014) has addressed several issues that deal
with the “nuts and bolts” of language intervention—issues of
treatment intensity, distribution and spacing of sessions, types
of feedback provided, and the effects of these variables on
long-term retention and transfer. There is very little research
specifically designed to test the effects of these variables on
treatment outcomes with older children and adolescents.
There is, however, a small body of literature on teaching more
advanced language grammatical targets to older children.
Drawing from these studies as well as experience in the BCL
project, two topics of treatment methodology are discussed
in the final two sections.
