This science experiment works because of a force called ‘lift’. Without air or air pressure there will be no lift. Although we cannot feel it, the air around us constantly pushes against everything it touches. The design of the kite affects the way the air moves and pushes around it and creates lift. This kite’s design allow it to fly at an angle so that more air is flowing below it than above, thus creating a force that pushes upwards (lift), enabling the kite to stay in the air.
