Hypotheses Testing
We conducted an initial test of the hypotheses with c analyses. Structural equation analyses were used to test the theorized model linking collectivist and individualist values, conflict management approaches and joint venture learning and performance. We analyzed the causal relationships among these c using LISREL8 0ooreskog & Soorbom, 1996). Apart from evaluating the overall model fit of the theorized model, we also compared its f indices with those of the direct effects model so as to identify a better model (Hayduk, 1987; Ullman & Bentler, 2003). The hypothesized model, also called the mediating effects model, proposed that conflict management approaches mediate the relationships between collectivist and individualist values and the outcome variables of joint venture learning and performance. This mediated effects model was compared to the direct effects model which theorized that collectivist and individualist values have direct effects on the outcome variables.
