In
their experiments, translating and looming stimuli captured
attention in an array of otherwise stationary stimuli.
Some experiments have suggested that the onset of motion
(a special case of a change in motion, going from no motion
to some motion) is particularly potent for capturing
attention (Abrams & Christ, 2003).
