For Vietnam, there is much optimism in store that can work for the country. A
pitch by the government to optimize their advantages will put them ahead of the
pack. These include Vietnam's strategic location in the region covering to the
north, China, and to the south the entrance to the South China Sea; the
Confucian traditions that bind all her people can assist in Vietnam up scaling her
progress in raising standards of education and contributing to an excellent
human resources development; a natural closeness to Japan in terms of a similar
post-war experience needs to be managed well to gain maximum Japanese
assistance and finally, Vietnam's tourism potential is beginning to be transformed
into a major income-earner. All of the above can play on both internal and
external sentiments to warrant giving Vietnam a closer look in the future.
