In summary, the results from this study showthat treatment with
1-MCP in ‘Conference’ pears has an important role in improving the
capacity of the fruit to remove ROS by increasing the activity of both
enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants during cold
storage and shelf-life. Nonetheless, the extent to which 1-MCP may
have a positive effect on the antioxidant metabolism of ‘Conference’
pears clearly depended on the fruit maturity at harvest or the
orchard location.
