์Before undergoing cataract surgery,patients are referred by their optician,GP or hospital doctor for a pre-operative assessment.At this assessment,patients will usually be examined by an ophthalmologist and/or specialist nurse.Thepatient's visual acuity (the distance at which they can see clearly)will be measured and the risks, benefits and limitations of surgery discussed.The patient will be informed that visual problems caused by other eye pathologies will not be improved by cataract removal.
