The findings of this study suggest that learners’
ability to make informed career choices
was influenced by lack of self-knowledge. One
participant indicated that not knowing yourself
could be very stressful. The feelings and
thoughts expressed by the participants before
going through the training help buttress this
argument. Zunker (2002) posits that, the life of
typical high school learner is one full of uncertainty,
turmoil and stress. The period of transition
can wreak havoc on the learners’ abilities
to make informed decisions for the welfare of
themselves and others.
