Ellen Page's public acknowledgement that she's gay is an important guiding light to young adults who are struggling, but so is the reaction to it. On Friday, the 26-year-old actress gave an eloquent and moving speech at the Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference, and, encouragingly, she's received tidal waves of support.
"I am here today because I am gay," Page said in the speech. "And because maybe I can make a difference, to help others have an easier and more helpful time."
Her bravery was met with three cheers and then some on social media, as her famous peers applauded Page's words.
