5. Conclusion
The new suggested procedure gives a sensitive and selective
spectrophotometric procedure for the determination of nitrite ion
that can be applied to different real samples. The sensitivity, linear
range and detection limit are as good as or better than some of the
previously reported methods.Table 4shows a comparison of the
proposed method with some of the previously reported methods in
the literature using spectrophotometric detection. The results of the
parallel determinations with the standard method confirm the
accuracy of the method. The recommended method is non-toxic
than other methods where organic solvents are used. The application
of the method for the determination of nitrite in water and sausage
samples has demonstrated the utility of the method.
