Explain the adverse impact of ineffective behavior.
Corrective feedback is more useful if it includes an explanation of the reason why a person’s
behavior is inappropriate or ineffective. For example, describe how the behavior causes
problems for others and interferes with their work. Describe the discomfort and distress you or
others experienced as a result of the person’s inappropriate behavior. Describe how the person’s
behavior jeopardizes the success of an important project or mission and express your personal
concern about it.
