Overall, 1,198 horse owners responded to the survey
(33.7%). Most of them (28%) had one horse and 23% of them
had two horses. On the other hand, 21% had more than five
horses. Up to five horses per owner as included, and therefore,
a total of 2,100 horses were obtained. They were mostly
leisure riding horses (57%). The group including breeding
and resting horses was also well represented (28%), whereas
group of trotter horses was smaller (13%). Only 5%–15% of
the horses were nonvaccinated, and this was associated
with the number of horses per owner. Among owners with
one horse, the highest vaccination level was acquired (95%);
whereas, owners with more than five horses had lowest
percentage (85%) that were vaccinated. Vaccination rate
seemed to decrease as the number of horses per owner
increased. Among owners with two horses, 92% were
vaccinated and 91% and 90% were vaccinated when the
number of horses was three or four, respectively.
