8. Nelissen and van der Velde state that Japan intends to catch 10 fin whales per year under JARPA II. In fact,
the JARPA II research plan submitted to the IWC’s Scientific Committee notes that for the first two years of the
program (2005/2006 and 2006/2007 referred to as a feasibility study) the intended catch of fin whales was 10.
The research plan specifies an intended catch of 50 fin whales per year for the remainder of the program. See
