Since last year Central Saint Martins students have their own biannual fashion magazine 1 Granary, and the best among them animate it with their creativity. Here's a fashion editorial that came out on the latest issue, by Alexa Horgan (photography) and Lou’ana Carron (styling).
The spotlight is on "The White Snow", CSM's annual fashion show in December. After witnessing the entire process behind the scenes, from garment design to show organization, the two students decided to shoot it with a whole new approach.
Chairs are no longer seats from which to observe the runway but become part of the actual costumes. The collections are re-elaborated in a surprising manner: quilted fabrics are draped like bewitching and sculptural evening gowns, hair is wrapped around the neck like a disorderly beard, jewels, or better, crystal tears, take form on Gareth Pugh-like hairstyles.
Each element is removed from its original function and is led into a dance choreographed by Horgan and Carron, that pleasantly resembles the surreal style and mechanical inventions of the "Triadic Ballet" by painter and sculptor Oskar Schlemmer.
