The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 16.0
(Chicago, IL, USA). Descriptive statistics were used to
assess the frequency and percentage of patient variables
(Part A) and state of health (Part B). Correlations were
performed to examine the relationship between self-efficacy
and self-care behavior. Factor analysis was carried out to
examine interrelationships among the large number of variables
and disentangles those relationships to identify the
clusters of variables that were most closely linked together
(factors) (Burns & Grove, 2005). Degree of self-efficacy is
presented as a mean. Multivariate analysis of variance
(MANOVA) with univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA)
as appropriate was used to identify any relationships
between self-efficacy of respondents and patient variables,
including state of health.
