As a remedy for the small number of affected customers, we have issued an optional firmware update that removes the dynamic security feature. To get the update, customers should visit support.hp.com, select their product, select the product support page, and click on the Software and Driver table to download it. Additional information about this update, including answers to frequently asked questions, can be found in HP’s Support Forum.
This firmware update removes previous security firmware that may prevent the printer from working with certain ink supplies that contain non-HP security chips.
R&D team of Ninestar has already test this official solution from HP with all printer model, using both new and old chip version products made by Ninestar.
Again, here below some Q&A regarding this first time ‘down-grade’ solution of HP Printers:
Q: How to do the ‘down-grade’?
A: It is actually another new firmware update file which can be download from HP support website after selecting the corresponding printer model.
Q: Which printers are included this time?
A: According to analysis, all the printers for HP 934/950/970 should be included. And here below is the printers Ninestar Engineers already tested today, all of them are proved to be work with old version chip products.
HP 934/935: HP OfficeJet Pro 6230/6812/8630/6835
HP 950/951: HP OfficeJet Pro 8610/8616/8620/8625/8630/8640/8660.
Q: Till now, whats more?
A: As HP said, this new firmware will remove the dynamic security feature of the printer, which should prevent the sudden automatic update (like the one happened in 13-Sep) from happening again in the future. Also this new solution still need the end user to be guided to following several steps to install, not as easy as the automatic tricks played one month ago by HP.
