6.8 Working with an independent certification body to drive quality, set standards
and ensure compliance, is a useful way for protected area managers to minimize
the cost of implementation. This also help to ensure a distinct line between
mandatory and voluntary park standards, both of which have very different
compliance requirements and consequences.
6.9 Physical auditing of operator standards is critical, not only as a check on individual
operator standards, but also to determine the success of the certification scheme
in the implementation of its program.
