Police have seized more than five kilograms of cannabis and cash after a drug detection dog operation at Central Railway Station.
The Police Transport Command was conducting the operation yesterday (Monday 12 December 2016) when a drug detection dog allegedly gave a positive indication towards a man with a suitcase.
The man attempted to run from police but was stopped a short time later and arrested due to outstanding warrants.
Police will allege they located 5.2kg of cannabis and cash when they searched the suitcase.
The 32-year-old man was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with cannabis supply, drug possession, resist officer and deal with the proceeds of crime, as well as the outstanding warrants.
He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Tuesday 13 December 2016).
The Police Transport Command regularly conducts proactive, high visibility operations in and around public transport hubs to detect criminal offences and enhance the safety of commuters.
