II. AN OVERVIEW OF WEB USAGE MINING
Data mining is the process of extracting, from a large
number of incomplete, noisy and ambiguous random data that
are applied in practice, hidden information and knowledge
about which people do not know in advance, but is potentially
useful.[1] Web data mining is one that applies the data mining
techniques to this special WEB databases. Web data mining is
generally divided into three categories according to different
targets: Web Content Mining, Web Structure Mining, and Web
Usage Mining.
Web Usage Mining is the process of obtaining valuable
information or knowledge from Web sites access information.
The process can be divided into the following four stages: data
collection, data preprocessing, pattern discovery and pattern
analysis.
