The corrosion inhibition of leaves ext. of Sida acuta was investigated by evaluating the corrosion behavior of carbon steel
immersed in 1N HCl soln. contg. various concns. of the ext. Mass loss, corrosion rate and adsorption characterization
were utilized to evaluate the corrosion inhibition and adsorption properties of the ext. The results obtained from wt. loss
studies revealed that the Sida acuta leaves ext. is an efficient inhibitor at the best concn. of 800ppm with max. inhibition
efficiency (90.3%) on carbon steel immersed in 1N HCl soln. The corrosion rate was obsd. to decrease with increase in
concns. of ext. but increase with temp. The activation energy and the neg. free energy of adsorption obtained from the
adsorption studies indicate that the Sida acuta leaves ext. is phys. adsorbed on the surface of the carbon steel and the
adsorption is strong, spontaneous and fits with the assumption of the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
