Dear Parents and Guardians,
I sincerely hope your are not suffering due to the affects of our recent weather. Unfortunately, I have heard from a number of parents and a couple of teachers, who had to evacuate their houses on Thursday due to the flooding. Lets all hope this weather system has now passed and water levels will drop back to normal.
Can I also take this opportunity to thank our community for the support and appreciation they have shown the school. The Facebook messages and emails were very much appreciated.
Updates on the current situation
Timing of further updates
Although we are now ready to re-open school on Monday. Further updates will be made at the following times;
Sunday 5.00pm
Monday 6.30am
These updates will all be released by email, sms, our Facebook page and Line (School News Group)
School Campus
The majority of Teaching and Support staff were able to make it into school today and have done a brilliant job of getting the school ready to reopen. Minor repairs are still being conducted over the weekend but the school and grounds are now dry and in safe condition to welcome students back on Monday.
Our swimming pool will be closed for at least a week whilst the water is filtered. So students who have swimming as part of PE, should bring normal PE kit.
Travelling to School
Our school drivers have been out checking routes to school this morning. The following approach roads to the school remain closed at this point:
Phoenix Golf Course Road
If you are using the Phoenix golf course road, after reaching 331 the following roads are closed
Polo Escape Road between route 331 and 3376
The road labelled as St Andrews Cycle route between route 331 and 3376
You are advised to turn right onto the 331 and carry on down towards Sattahip, turn left at the traffic lights onto the 332 towards Ban Chang. At the first traffic lights on the 332 (where there is a 7/11 on the corner) turn left, this road then joins the 3376. This will add an estimated 15 to 20 minutes to your journey time.
Silver Lake/Bhudda Mountain
If you are using The Silver Lake/Bhudda Mountain route to school, after reaching 331, the road across to the 3376 is closed. You are advised to turn right onto the 331 and carry on down towards Sattahip, turn left at the traffic lights onto the 332 towards Ban Chang. At the first traffic lights on 332 (where there is a 7/11 on the corner) turn left, this road then joins the 3376. This will add an estimated 10 minutes to your journey time.
Routes from Rayong
Roads in Rayong were still experiencing flooding today but we have not received notice of any road closures
Routes using Route 36 and from Ban Chang are operating as normal
After School Activities and Matches
Although school will be open, there will not be any extra-curricular activities or matches against other schools on Monday and Tuesday. This will allow us time to assess the impact of bus journey times given the current road situation. An announcement will be made on Wednesday as to when after school activities and late buses will resume.
Friday 25th September will be a teaching day
The planned teacher training day on Friday 25th September will be cancelled and this will now be a teaching day. This will allow us to catch up on some of the time we have lost during this disruption. We realise this is short notice and some families may have made arrangements they can not change. However, we encourage you where possible to ensure your children are in school on that day.
Bus Pick Up and travel times on Monday
Although we anticipate that bus journey times to school will take longer, while road repairs are made to the normal routes, we will still be picking up students at the same time in the morning as we were previously. We will monitor this situation and notify you if we need to make changes in the future.
Return journey times are anticipated to take an estimated 20 minutes longer and possibly more.
Peace Day on Monday
The school will continue with our Peace Day celebrations in school on Monday as planned.
Sorry, this update has been lengthy. I hope it contains all the information you require. If not please don’t hesitate to email or call the school on Monday.
Wishing you a dry and safe weekend!
