Directions for recording and submitting a recorded assessment in choir class. – preliminary assignment.
Choir students: Please record, Progressive Sight Singing, Ch. 1, page 3, exercise #8. Sopranos and Tenors use G as your starting
pitch. Altos and Basses use D as your starting pitch. Assignment value: 10 points
Directions:
1. Find your start note or pitch:
a. There are applications for iPad, iPod, and iPhone that are free for download to your device. I would consider
this as “appropriate use” of your devices for academic purposes. I recommend using Pitch Pipe
(https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pitch-pipe-now/id441889991?mt=8). If you have an Android phone (like
Mr. Kopplin) there are free pitch pipes available through the Google Play store.
b. There are many websites directly accessible on your MacBooks that work for finding your starting pitch. Two
I recommend:
i. The metropolis online pitch pipe: http://www.harmonize.com/metropolis/online_pitch_pipe.htm
ii. The virtual keyboard:
http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks2/music/piano/index.htm
