Another side-product of the sago palm is the sago grub,
which is the larva of the Capricorn beetle (Rhynchophorus
ferrungineus/6ilineatus). The Asmat tribe celebrates special
occasions by consuming the grubs either raw or roasted.
The Korowai also have sago festivals, the preparations for
which last for 3 months. A large party-house is built with all
the special features needed to enjoy the sago grub
