Poster
Occasionally referred to as a 'broadside' or 'broadsheet', posters in many cases are printed on one side only (although this is not exclusively the case). The typographic poster requires some special consideration, not just in terms of what audience it will appeal to, but also in terms of where the poster will be seen and from what kinds of distances. Typography may have to work in several different levels, not only in terms of scale. If the poster is to be seen from a distance, it may be necessary to render type at large sizes in order to 'draw in' the viewer. Conversely, if you know that the poster will also be viewed at close range (for example, if it contains a detailed list of times and events), the overly large type will appear less clear and easy to read at close proximity.
