Reality star Kristin Cavallari is in mourning following the discovery of her brother's body, almost two weeks after he was reported missing.
Police in Utah launched a search for Michael Cavallari after his 2014 Honda Civic was found abandoned by the side of the Interstate 70 in Grand County on November 27, the day after America's Thanksgiving holiday, and his sister broke her silence about the drama earlier this week (December 7) to thank fans for their support.
Authorities appealed to the public for information as to the whereabouts of the 30 year old, but their search has ended in tragedy.
The news of Michael's death was announced on Thursday (December 10), when Kristin released a statement to E! News asking for privacy.
"We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," she wrote. "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."
A source close to the family previously told People magazine that Michael, 30, has had a troubled past and Orange County, California police records reveal he was arrested on 23 November (15), just days before his disappearance.
Her sibling's disappearance and death has wrecked what was a joyous time for Kristin, who welcomed her third child with husband Jay Cutler, daughter Saylor, just four days before Michael went missing.
