psychitric-menta health nurses typically ask patients with known suspected AH the following two questions ;(a) "Do you hear voices?" and (b) Are your voice commanding you to harm yourself or anyone else? "Althrough asking these questions is critically important to miantaining the safety of these patients and other additional question exist that should also be asked to obtain a comprehensive assessment of voice hearers' experiences.Such a thorough assessment of AH can help PMH nurses begin to understand what hearing voice is like for each patient,what strategies are effective for managing AH ,and what help patients may need. from staff.
To date ,no published interview guide exists with the following two-fold purpose:(a)To help PMH professionals asses and plan care for each individual's voice hearing experiance, and (b) to help patients tell their unique stories of hearing voice.The current article describes the development and use of the auditory hallucination interview guide,a clinically useful assessment tool that PMN nurses can use to correct assessment data necessary fir developing individualized care plans for voice hearers describes their experiences of hearing voice from initial onset to current experience ,including what makes their voice better and worse.The AHIG also teaches voice hearers and PMH nurses a shared language,with increases their comfort level and facilitates effective communication when talking to each other about AH.
