The final ethanol concentration (P),
and maximum production rate (QP) were found to be 42.6 g/L
and 3.37 g/L/h, respectively. Vaheed et al. investigated that
ethanol production from carob pod extract using response surface
methodology. The maximum P (38.93 g/L) was obtained within
36 h in carob pod extract. However, these studies were all done
by using suspended-cell culture reactors. It is important to
improve the fermentation process performance in terms of production
rates and yields.
