The discovery processes in cellular communication systems, such as LTE, LTE-A
(LTE-Advanced), and WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) are
based on the principle where the UE scans dedicated preambles transmitted by the base
station (BS), and after initial synchronization transmits a random access signal on
contention based resources to the BS, in some cases via a relaying node [4][5][6].
