The objective of the present study was thus to evaluate the
effect of various polymers on both the rheological and mechanical/textural
properties of cosmetic O/W emulsions. For this
purpose, eight hydrophilic polymers, either natural (Ceratonia
siliqua gum, xanthan gum), or natural modified (hydroxypropyl
guar gum, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose)
or synthetic (carbomer, polyacrylamide (and) C13–14 isoparaffin
(and) laureth-7, Ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer),
were selected. Eachone was incorporated inan O/Wemulsion
at a concentration of 1% w/w.
